The Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is seeking approval from the government to sign an agreement on tourism cooperation with the Republic of South Africa.

South Africa has become one of key trade partners of Vietnam in recent times. The countries want to boost ties in all fields, especially tourism, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said on its website Dec 18.

“Vietnam and South Arica have big tourism potentials. However, the nations have not effectively tapped them. An official agreement will spur the bilateral tourism ties,” an official from the VNAT said.

If the agreement is signed, its validity will last five years and will be extended every five years, he added.

Vietnam welcomed 833,100 Chinese travelers in the first eleven months of 2010, up 76.7% from a year earlier. It aims to welcome over one million tourist arrivals from China in 2010, doubling last year’s figure. (www.vietnamtourism.gov.vn)
