Italy Grants EUR3M to Help Vietnam Improve Footwear Industry
Italian shoe businesses have decided to provide EUR3 million in non-refundable aid for three years to help shoe and leather small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Vietnam strengthen their competitiveness in the world market.
Eight SMEs in the southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City are the first to receive the assistance.
Fashion professors from Italy will cooperate with the municipal shoe and leathern associations to open training courses on designing and manufacturing fashionable shoes as well as marketing and promoting for them.
Vietnam, which is ranked the fourth among the world’s top ten exporters of leather shoes, may earn $6.2 billion from exporting shoes and other leather products this year.
Vietnamese shoes and leather products such as bags, wallets, belts are shipped to 50 countries. (Vietnam Economic Times)
