S.Korean Biz Seek to Invest in Vietnam Supporting Industries
Various groups from South Korea are willing to invest in Vietnam’s supporting industries, said Korean Deputy Minister of Knowledge Economy Park Young June, who is on a working visit to explore opportunities for expanding investment in Vietnam.
The deputy minister informed the news at a reception given by the host’s Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai Dec 20.
Park Young June praised Vietnam’s contribution to help the South Korea boost its ties with other Southeast Asian countries.
He expressed hopes that the two governments will provide businesspeople with conditions to facilitate their exploration and promotion of investment opportunities in energy, mining, and the construction of transport facilities, which have high potential for investors.
Deputy PM Hai praised the results of the South Korean delegation’s working sessions with the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, the oil and gas group (PetroVietnam), the coal and mineral industry group (Vinacomin) and a series of new cooperation agreements reached at the recent Vietnam-South Korea business forum.
He said these results are the assertion of what South Korean businesspeople will do to continue the successes of current cooperation projects between the two Asian countries.
South Korea is ranked the second among investors in Vietnam with 2,621 valid investment projects worth $22.54 billion as of November 20.
Trade between Vietnam and South Korea is forecast to increase to $10 billion in 2010 from $9 billion in 2009, and the two country target to boost their trade to $20 billion in 2015. (vietnamplus.vn)
