PM Okays Vietnam Gas Industry Development Plan
The Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has signed a decision to ratify the Master Plan for Vietnam Gas Industry Development in the period from now to 2015 and orientation to 2025.
The master plan will provide a consistent, effective gas industry development by accelerating the exploitation of domestic sources, the promotion of international relations, and the promotion of State leading roles in gas infrastructure investment.
The master plans underscores economical, effective and reasonable use of domestic gas resources, increasing gas importation to ensure energy supply for sustainable national development, stronger investment for processing and diversifying products to raise the utility value of gas and gas products in the economy, and reduction of imported LPG. Vietnam will take most advantage of existing infrastructures in the infrastructure development strategy, develop State-regulated gas market, and gradually integrate into global and regional gas markets. The development of gas industry will contribute to ensuring long-term national energy security and implementing sustainable development policies.
