Aquaculture Export Likely to Reach Nearly US $6 Bln in 2011
The aquaculture export in 2011 is expected to reach US$5.7-5.8 billion this year, according to the recent forecast released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The forecast is based on increasing demand in the world for aquaculture products, especially in big markets such as the US, EU, Canada and Japan.
In Q1 this year, the value of aquaculture exports reached US$1.1 billion, up 22% against the same period last year, of which the exports value to the US rising 40%, Germany, 32.5%, and that to Canada was doubled.
