Over 7.4 Mln People Use Unemployment Insurance
As of April 2011, over 7.4 million Vietnamese had registered for unemployment insurance services, according to the Job Department of the Ministry of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs (MOLISA).
The unemployment insurance fund has collected VND 4,800 billion as by December, 2010, making the total accumulative reserve in 2009 and 2010 to over VND 8,300 billion.
Employees and employers are urged to be fully aware of responsibilities for unemployment registration as well as the rights to receive higher unemployment subsidies.
The Job Department also warned that those who work for employers who recruit less than 10 employees and laborers who involve in employment contract for less than one year, are mostly vulnerable to unemployment and they are not beneficiaries of unemployment insurance.
