Vietnam Grows 5.57 Pct in Six Months

Gross domestic products (GDP) in the first six months of 2011 grew by 5.57 percent compared to the same period last year, with an estimated value of more than VDN 258.6 trillion, according to the Vietnam General Statistics Office.

 

Of this figure, theagroforestry and fisheries sector rose by 2.08 percent while the industry and construction sector and the service field enjoyed increases of 6.49 percent and 6.12 percent, respectively.

 

For the first six months of 2011, industrial production surged by 9.7 percent year on year. Total goods retail and service turnover posted an estimated more than VND 153 trillion, raising the figure for the first six months to nearly VND 912 trillion, an increase of 22.6 percent year on year.
