16 Projects Win Innovation Awards 2011
Nearly VND 8.5 billion was awarded to 16 community projects to implement in many regions of Vietnam aiming at social justice and sustainable growth. This award is in the framework of the Vietnam Innovation Day 2011 "Innovation for social justice and sustainable growth", these projects will receive up to VND 630 million per project, according to three small themes: Energy efficiency, traditional herbal medicines, products and agricultural services.
Amongst the winning ideas there are ideas evaluated as innovative, high feasibility, highly effective, such as the idea of universal fuel pump water for people in mountainous, the device automatically switches to the timer hours of sun, expanding low-cost recycled ecological waste of production villages, or turn waste into resources for the local base. All projects are rated on creativity and commitment of the project.
This competition held by the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the World Bank from March 2011 to date, has attracted 332 proposals, of which 36 proposals made it into the final round. The program this year is supported by the Embassy of Denmark, the UK Department for International Development, Agency for International Development Australian, US Agency for International Development, Canada Agency for International Development, the Embassy of Finland and World Bank.
