Int’l Arrivals in HCM City Surge 10%
The total number of foreign tourists to Ho Chi Minh City reached 1.8 million in the first seven months, a year-on-year increase of 10% despite impacts of the global economic downturn.
Of the figure, around 1.5 million guests traveled by air.
The city has gained tourism revenues of more than VND10.6 trillion during the period.
The local tourism agencies are trying to better service quality, diversify products, and provide cheap tours in response to rising prices of air tickets and food.
Vietnam’s largest economic hub has especially mapped out and developed the action plan on waterway tourism and is planning the second phase of the program on “Ho Chi Minh City – 100 excitements”.
In addition, its tourism sector is developing cooperation with other domestic partners and joining cooperative activities of the Tourism Promotion Organization for Asia Pacific Cities.
The city is shaking hands with Vietnam Airlines and the Vietnam Tourism Association to expand both key and potential markets, including the Republic of Korea, Japan, the US, Russia, Spain, India and ASEAN.
This year, the city expects to receive 3.5 million foreign guests and rake in VND49 trillion in tourism revenues.
