VFA Forecast 2.1 Million Tones of Rice Exports in Third Quarter
The Vietnam Food Association (VFA) have forecast that the country will export 700,000 tonnes of rice in August and another 700,000 tonnes in September, helping to increase the total volume of exported rice to 2.1 million tonnes in this years' third quarter.
If their predictions are correct, 6 million tonnes of rice will have been exported to foreign markets in the first nine months of this year.
Under the plan of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to target 7-7.3 million tonnes of rice exports for 2011, the country will have to ship 1-1.3 million more tonnes of rice in the fourth quarter to achieve its aim.
