Top Tasks of Construction Sector in 2012

PM Nguyen Tan Dung has requested the Ministry of Construction to pay special attention to improving the effectiveness of State management in construction sector. 
 
The Government chief made the statement at the ministry’s conference held on Friday to deploy tasks for 2012.
 
Especially, the Ministry was urged to push up building social houses for the poor and disadvantaged people, regarding it as a crucial mission.
 
PM Dung also required the ministry to design the strategy on Vietnamese real estate market development, beef up equitization or rearrangement of construction businesses with prolonged poor performance.
 
The Government chief also pointed out a series of shortcomings of the sector, which include low-quality of construction projects, limited urban development, and planning vision and management have yet met the requirements. These shortcomings need to be addressed in 2012, he added.
 
Regarding the central tasks for 2012, Minister of Construction Trinh Dinh Dung said the ministry plans to focus on improving legal system on urban areas, housing, and real property trading; implementing the Program on national urban development for 2010-2015
 
The MoC will also prioritize the implementation of the National Housing Development Strategy toward 2020 with vision of 2030 ratified by the PM on November 30, 2011.
 
The programs on clean water and revenue loss prevention and solid waste treatment are also set to be realized.
 
Until now, there are more than 750 cities, including two special cities (Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City), 11 grade I cities, 12 grade II cities, 44 grade III cities, 54 grade IV cities and 600 grade V cities in Vietnam, statistics show.
 
The proportion of urbanization is estimated at 31%, with the average economic growth rate of around 12-15%, or 1.5-2 times higher than the national average level.
 
Now, there are more than 630 construction projects in across the country, including 14 mega projects (above 1,000 hectares).
