The National Assembly Committee on Economy and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) recently signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation, aiming to deepen and strengthen the mutual cooperation and coordination.

Accordingly, VCCI will join hands with the NA Committee on Economy; collect and send opinions and recommendations of the business community on the enforcement of mechanisms, policies and laws concerning businesses and business environment to the Committee; and raise its opinions on the Committee-performed inspections into State socioeconomic development programmes and plans.

In return, the Committee will coordinate with VCCI to provide information about the implementation of State socioeconomic development programmes, projects and plans; the implementation of economic, monetary and banking policies; and the agenda for supervision in the following year which lays the groundwork for annualised coordination between the Committee and VCCI.

Regarding cooperation modes, each party will appoint a working group to undertake specific tasks required by the Committee and VCCI. Annually, the two sides will hold a review meeting and draw experience on the implementation of joint activities in that year and anticipate operations in the following year.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr Vu Tien Loc, VCCI President, said: This cooperation can be considered a tripartite cooperation model and it helps each party fulfil its missions better. In addition, the signing of this cooperation agreement also contributes to the quicker implementation of the Resolution 09 of the Politburo on building entrepreneur force in the new era.

The agreement that provides for operating coordination between the two sides will start from January 2012 till the end of the current National Assembly term in 2016.
