First Tourism City Offers Free Wi-Fi
The ancient city of Hoi An, Quang Nam province will become the first city in Vietnam and Southeast Asia to provide free-of-charge Wi-Fi coverage, according to the local Department of Information and Communications.
By the end of February, 350 free Wi-Fi stations will have been installed for local people and tourists to surf the Internet for free.
The project will cost around VND 23 billion, which will be financed by private sources.
Earlier, on the occasion of the Lunar New Year, tourists were able to access to free wireless via 50 installed hotspots in ancient town.
This is part of effort to lure more tourists to the city.
The model will be researched and applied to other tourism cities in Vietnam like Vung Tau and Hạ Long.
