Plastic Exporters Receive Orders till June
Plastic exporters have signed export contracts for the end of the 2nd quarter of this year, with prices increasing by 10% over 2011, according to the Vietnam Plastic Association (VPA).
The VPA predicts that plastic export turnovers this year will rise 26% from last year to US $1.7 billion.
According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the country is likely to earn some US $275 million from exporting plastic products, especially plastic pipes, to Europe this year, up 36.5%.
Japanese firms are shifting to import Vietnamese plastic products, instead of Chinese ones, according to VPA Vice Chairman Hồ Đức Lam.
Local plastic products, including packages, coverings and household items, are exported mainly to Japan, the US and Germany, he said.
