Visitor Arrivals to Bao Yen Surge

Bao Yen district of Lao Cai province expects to receive more than 40,000 visitors in 2012, trebling the number in 2009 when the Bao Yen Tourism Year was launched (June 2009.)
While the number of tourists to Sa Pa and Bac Ha temporarily decreases due to chilling weather, the result seems to be contrast in Bao Yen - the gateway into Lao Cai.
Mr Giang Seo Van, Vice Chairman of Bao Yen People's Committee, said: Bao Yen district expects to receive more than 40,000 visitors in 2012, trebling the number in 2009 when the Bao Yen Tourism Year was launched (in June 2009.)
 
A majority of visitors go to Bao Yen for spiritual purposes, mainly Bao Ha and Phuc Khanh temples, ancient Nghi Lang citadel and historical Pho Rang military post.
This spring, supporting facilities for Bao Ha Temple are completed to please visitors. Many plans to ensure environmental hygiene, security and order and avoid traffic jams are prepared, aiming to create best conditions for pilgrims to Bao Ha Temple.
 
Bao Yen is a poetic land that locates between two rivers: Red and Chay.
 
Bao Yen now has five historic sites, including two nationally rated sites. They are associated with the national history.
 
This place also has many very attractive sites like Viet Tien revolutionary base, Pho Rang aquarium and Thac Xa Tan Tien. Below the peaceful and graceful Chay River are fruitful orchards. The district is very famous for Tan Tien and Viet Tien oranges and purple Le Pho taro.
 
If you start from Doan Hung, you will go up National Road 70 to reach Pho Rang. Turning to National Road 279 on the northeast site, you will reach Bao Ha temple after travelling 25 km. If you turn right and go 25 km, you will arrive at Nghia Do tourist site. If you feel like being lost in the world of spirit in Bao Ha Temple, you will live in the middle of food and drink world in Nghia Do. Here, you can enjoy famous foods of Tay people.
 
Mr Ma Dinh Cu, Vice President of Nghia Do Commune People's Committee, said: The number of visitors has surged this year. The commune is making plans for upgrading of some historical tourist sites to district and provincial authorities.
 
Mr Ma Thanh Soi - a famous collector of Tay ethnic folklore cultural items, said that authorities need to bring traditional cultural identities to spotlight to develop tourism. They need to restore and upgrade historical and cultural sites soon.
