The seventh edition of the International Processing, Filling and Packaging Exhibition and Conference for Vietnam (ProPak Vietnam 2012) and the fourth edition of the International Plastics & Rubber Technologies and Materials Exhibition (Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2012) took place at Saigon Exhibition & Convention Centre (SECC), Ho Chi Minh City from February 29 to March 2, 2012. The dual event provided many chances for Vietnamese businesses to approach advanced technologies from developed countries in the world.
ProPak Vietnam and Plastics & Rubber Vietnam were attended by 334 exhibitors from 25 countries in the world. The event featured country sections for developed industrialised nations and territories like Australia, China, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Taiwan.
ProPak Vietnam 2012 showcased machines and the latest technologies for major sectors such as processing, packaging, pharmaceuticals, machinery and new materials. Meanwhile, Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2012 brought in business opportunities for various sectors like aerospace, automotive, precision engineering, electrics and electronics, furniture, medicine and healthcare, household goods, packaging, amusement products, construction and subcontract. This was seen a chance for businesses to latest processing and packaging technologies used in plastics, rubber and precision engineering industries.
According to organisers, Asia is proving to be a new economic power in the world and Vietnam is shining in this region. Vietnam is an appealing destination for international companies, especially those operating in packaging, plastics and rubber industries. In addition, the increased investment by world-leading corporations P&G Vietnam, Kyocera Milta and Samsung has demonstrated the huge potential of Vietnam in attracting foreign investment. This was also the reason for organising ProPak Vietnam and Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2012.
A number of seminars were held by international companies, commercial and industrial organisations during the three-day exhibitions, They include a conference on advancements in food packaging and processing conference hosted by the Food Science and Technology Association; a conference lean usage in plastic and rubber industries hosted by the Vietnam Labs Association; and an energy conservation conference organised by the Vietnam Plastics Association. All conferences were presented by leading specialists.
Mr Ronald Lim, Chairman cum Secretary General of the ASEAN Federation of Plastics Industries (AFPI) and Chairman of the Singapore Plastics Industry Association (SPIA), expressed his belief in Vietnam - Singapore cooperation in plastic industry at the back of this event. Plastics & Rubber Vietnam 2012 drew 13 Singaporean plastic companies to attend.
He said, with latest machines, equipment and solutions displayed, Plastics & Rubber Vietnam was a right approach for businesses.
