Import Duties Lifted on Bus Parts Assembled in Hanoi, HCM City
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh, on the behalf of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, agreed to exempt from import tariffs components and parts used for assembling buses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, a move to support public transportation and reduce traffic jams.
He noted the tariff exemption will be applied to projects approved by relevant State agencies. Details on imports like project duration, quantity, type, quality and value of parts shall be clearly stated.
The Ministry of Transport is responsible for working with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Finance, and the People’s Committees of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to implement the policy.
He also noted that the duty free status is only applied to items Vietnam is unable to produce. The Ministry of Finance will coordinate with the Ministry of Planning and Investment and the Ministry of Industry and Trade to implement this content.
