Vegetables, Fruits Exported to EU Must Have Codes
The Department of Plant Protection under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said it has not issued any mandates on suspension of vegetable and fruit export to the EU market but it will strengthen quality control over export shipments.
This agency also recommended exporters carefully select fruits and vegetables before clearing export procedures, citing that EU agencies have recently warned that they will ban the import of Vietnamese fruits and vegetables if they find two more shipments fail to meet food safety requirements.
The department added that it is building EU-standard growing areas. These areas will be coded and products will be packed by certified packagers and exporters.
