Pepper Exports Forecast to Fetch Nearly US$1 Billion
Vietnam is expected to ship 123,470 tons of peppercorns, worth US $894 million in 2012, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The 500Gr/I-FAQ dried black pepper prices vary from US $6,200-6,300 per ton and the 500Gr/I- ASTA price range from US $6,500-6,600 per ton, an increase of 20% compared to the same period last year.
The price of white pepper stabilizes from US $9,400-9,500 per ton, up 19% against last year.
As of May this year, the export of peppercorn reached nearly 52,500 tons, worth nearly US $357.4 million, up 11.4% in quantity and 46.1% in value.
Vietnam’s peppercorns are directly exported to foreign markets, which helps minimize risks and damages.
