Agro-Forestry, Fishery Exports Reach US$13.6 Billion
Agro-forestry and fishery exports in the first half of 2012 reached US$13.6 billion, up 14 percent over the same period in 2011, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD).
MARD statistics show that the export value of agricultural commodities hit US$7.7 billion, fishery products US$2.9 billion, and forestry exports reached US$2.3 billion, a year-on-year rise of 9.6 percent, 10.6 percent and 22.7 percent respectively.
The sector’s trade surplus for the six-month period is estimated at US$5.7 billion.
Minister Cao Duc Phat predicted that agro-forestry and fishery exports will reach US$27 billion in 2012.
