Strengthening Cooperation with Finnish Businesses
Dr Vu Tien Loc, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), hosted a meeting with Mr Kimmo Lähdevirta, Finnish Ambassador to Vietnam, on June 28. The meeting aimed to expand and promote investment cooperation between the two nations in the coming time.
Dr Loc said the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1973 and have successfully cooperated in many fields. The two countries are witnessing good progress in economic and commercial ties. In 2011, the two-way trade turnover exceeded US$210 million. Vietnam mainly exported coffee, rubber, footwear and apparels to Finland and the European nation shipped Nokia and Vertu mobile phones and Wilson tennis rackets.
Ambassador Lähdevirta expressed his pleasure to make continued contributions to bilateral cooperation between Vietnam and Finland, especially in economic and commercial cooperation. He was happy with multifaceted cooperation between the two countries and appreciated the effective implementation of official development assistance in Vietnam.
Dr Loc, on behalf of VCCI, suggested the establishment of Vietnam - Finland Business Council in the near future. He stressed that many Finnish companies are collaborating and investing in Vietnam. Vietnam will create favourable conditions for these companies and VCCI will do its best to promote bilateral investment and trade relations. He hoped the two-way trade turnover to reach US$1 billion in the near future.
