A gathering was held in Hanoi on October 7 to commemorate Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Day (October 13) and honour Vietnamese businesspeople who made significant contributions to the resistance war and to national construction.

Under the theme ’Vietnamese Entrepreneurs and the Cause of National Construction’, the meeting reviewed the entrepreneurs’ performance in the past and their contributions to ongoing national construction and defence.

Nearly 200 Vietnamese entrepreneurs from across the country gathered at the Presidential Palace where President Ho Chi Minh wrote a letter calling on industry and trade circles to participate in building the nation. In 2004, the Government chose October 13 to be Vietnamese Entrepreneurs Day based on this historic event.

The highlight of the event was the debut of the Vietnamese Traders’ Club (VTC) under the Centre for Economic Training, Consultancy and Information (CETAI). The Club will aims to connect domestic and overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs, as well as scientists and economic experts, so they can share and exchange experiences to boost industry and trade.

It will also promote the traditional vanguard entrepreneurs and increase the role of entrepreneurs in both the domestic and international arena.

On the occasion, General Vo Nguyen Giap and Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan sent baskets of flowers to congratulate the businesspeople.
