The Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GI), the World Bank (WB) and other financiers officially announced the organisation of the Vietnam Anticorruption Initiative Programme 2013 (VACI 2013) with the aim of "Enhancing transparency, integrity and accountability, reducing corruption".
VACI 2013 is the second programme in the VACI series kicked off in 2011 with 160 proposed initiatives and 34 executed initiatives.
At the programme-launching press conference, Tran Duc Luong, GI Deputy Chief Inspector, said "Currently, Vietnam regards corruption and abuse prevention as a key task of all levels, sectors and the society. Enhancing transparency, integrity and accountability is one of focused anti-corruption measures taken by the Government of Vietnam.”
VACI 2013 seeks and supports the deployment of initiatives of strengthening transparency, integrity and accountability and curbing corruption. At least 20 prizes with a total value of up to VND6 billion will be transferred to innovative and feasible ideas.
The programme consists of two main parts: Initiative Competition - an open competition. In this contest, expenses will go to most creative, most excellent, most feasible projects.
Knowledge Exchange - a forum to share knowledge of laws, reality and practical experience in the fight against corruption as well as contents related to boosting transparency, integrity and accountability in the fight against corruption.
After launching, the organisers will hold five workshops to introduce the programme in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Dak Lak, Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho from December 12 to 20, 2012. The organising board will receive competing submissions until March 18, 2013.
Qualifying round will be held in April 2013 and the final round will be organised in June 2013 in Hanoi.
