VNAT Presents First Green Lotus Certification to Accommodation Facilities in 2012

The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism organised a ceremony to grant the Green Lotus Certificate to tourist accommodations in 2012.

 

According to appraisers, hotels have strived to comply with the Green Lotus Label criteria. In particular, hotels which qualified for Green Lotus Sustainable Tourism Label at Level 4 and Level 5 have performed professionally and basically environmental protection. Most hotels have established websites on environmental protection to update and disseminate information and requests regarding environmental protection for each service to their employees. At the same time, hotels also apply new technologies and use alternative energies in order to minimise negative impacts on the environment. Thanks to effective implementation of environmental protection measures, many hotels have saved significant expenditures on electricity, water and raw materials.

 

The application of the Green Lotus Sustainable Tourism Label has brought practical results for hotels and contributed to natural and social environmental protection, in order to develop sustainable tourism as set out in the Vietnam tourism development strategy to 2020, with a vision to 2030.
