Rice Export Estimated to Top 7.5 Mln Tonnes in 2013
The Vietnam Food Association (VFA) said Vietnam is expected to export about 7.5 - 7.6 million tonnes of rice in 2013.
Looking ahead, the country is forecast to send abroad 400,000 tonnes in January, about 400,000 tonnes in February and 600,000 tonnes in March.
Key rice export markets of Vietnam in 2013 will be the United States, Indonesia, Singapore, Senegal, and the Philippines.
Vietnamese rice will face stiff competition from other major exporters like Thailand, India, Pakistan and Myanmar in 2013.
To achieve the target of 7.5 - 7.6 million tonnes, exporters need to expand existing markets and actively seek new export contracts.
