With the aim to promoting cooperation between stock exchanges in the ASEAN region, for the first time, Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange (HOSE) hosted the conference "Invest ASEAN - Vietnam 2013" on March 30th.
Participating in the conference were management agencies of Vietnam and Thailand; professionals in the ASEAN stock exchanges; securities companies, fund management companies in the country and 30 listed companies representing Vietnam's stock market.

Speaking at Invest ASEAN-Vietnam 2013, Mr Tran Dac Sinh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of HOSE, stated that integration is the common trend of development in the region and the world that Vietnam cannot stand apart. ASEAN link was implemented by the ASEAN Stock Exchanges, in which HOSE is a founding member in the right direction and commitment of the Governments of ASEAN in regional capital market liberalization.

Invest ASEAN is a regional event which began to be implemented by the first three countries offering connected transactions for the purpose of promoting and widely introducing the ASEAN capital market.
Invest ASEAN focuses on the introduction of a joint initiative of ASEAN and connected experiences in transactions, as well as the opportunities and challenges when participating in ASEAN link to the Vietnamese authorities and market participants, helping further expand investment and cooperation opportunities in the region.

Through this event, regional investors had an opportunity to access leading listed companies in the Stock Exchange ASEAN in "ASEN Star" - group of 30 prominent companies of multiple sectors with the highest capitalization and liquidity in the stock market of each state member.

When the trading connections between six ASEAN countries are complete, the regional stock market scale would be worth about US$1,600 billion market capitalization, with more than 2,554 listed companies. According to experts, this is a new stock market whose scale can be comparable to other major markets such as China and India, so the opportunity to attract more capital flows from outside the region will be increased.

The first 3 stock exchanges of Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia have completed interconnection. Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines will be connected in the future.
