Vietnam, Sweden Increase Cooperation in Mining
Business Sweden, in collaboration with Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (Vinacomin) and local counterparts, recently held a seminar on sustainable mining industry in Quang Ninh province. The event attracted over 50 representatives from local government, industry leaders, experts and media in an open, multi-dimensioned dialogue on the industry’s strategy and development.
In her address, Swedish Ambassador to Vietnam, Mrs Camilla Mellander noted, “Given Vietnam’s increasing need for innovative technology and solutions, Sweden has a lot to offer as one of largest mining nations in Europe. Further, the strong business presence of Swedish mining companies provides local businesses with fantastic opportunities for beneficial partnerships.”
The event was an opportunity to promote the cutting edge equipment, products and solutions offered by Swedish companies to the local market. It was also a demonstration of “sustainable practice” and how it can resolve the challenges of both today and tomorrow. This aligns with the Government of Vietnam’s policies to encourage investment in higher quality equipment for improving business environment and practice.
“Swedish companies can offer exactly what Vietnam is looking for. These solutions and equipment are not only long-lasting, but also proven to be innovative, reliable and profitable in the Asia Pacific region and wordwide”, stressed Peter Cederholm, Trade Commissioner at Business Sweden.
ABB, Scania and Swedish Export Credit Corporation (SEK) participated in the event. Each of these expressed a readiness and capacity to work in fruitful, long-term partnerships with Vietnamese companies and relevant authorities to build a more advanced mining industry in the country. SEK particularly explained how their financing solutions are tailored to suit Vietnamese buyers’ needs, when they wish to buy Swedish equipment.
