BAWACO - For the Sake of Community Health

During its long history since its development from Bac Lieu Water Plant Management Company founded in 1950, Bawaco’s employees and staff members have made all efforts to serve the production and domestic life of Bac Lieu citizens. So far, Bawaco has become a truly reputable and qualified unit in clean water provision, with the construction of complete water supply system with 2 water treatment plants having designed capacity up to 22,000 m3/day, serving over 15,000 households, offices and enterprises. The company has continuously expanded its service area, increased the percentage of users who can access clean water to nearly 85 percent, adequately meeting water demands for industrial production and business activities. Thereby, Bawaco can fulfil its aspiration of supplying clean water for people with good water pressure and constant water flow.

 

In particular, to serve clients in the best manner, the company has always operated pumps with pressure ranging from 2KG-3KG in the city centre area, while the minimum pressure is 0.5KG, equating 5m of water head. Besides, to ensure the constant stability of water flow to users and avoid power outage problems, Bawaco has invested in generators and spare pumps for 2 plants so water could be supplied continuously. Moreover, quality is given serious priority and water treated in 2 plants always meets the standards set out by Ministry of Health, crucial indicators have been under regular monitoring such as Ecoli, coliform, iron content, chlorine residue, opacity, etc. The water delivered to the people is ensured to be pasteurized and appropriate for domestic use.

 

Not only producing and supplying water, Bawaco regards its customer service as a necessity for the company. For the best service, Bawaco has regularly organized training classes for its members on communication skills, developing a professional working style to earn the satisfaction of the people. Notably, to help stabilize water prices for the citizens, the company has actively reduced costs, on track to cut loss rates by 2020 to 15 percent (from the current rate of 21 percent).

 

To form a strong team to perform these tasks, Bawaco Management Board has paid special attention to the company’s staff. There are approximately 100 employees who all receive remuneration and benefits from welfare funds and separate support for sport and culture activities. In addition, there are also many social welfare activities such as assistance for poor households in the province (10 houses to be built annually), poverty reduction activities, and installation of hydrants to supply clean water to schools and hospitals.

 

Aiming to raise awareness about the use of clean water for local people, Bawaco has developed many practical programs. “Bac Lieu still faces difficulties in many aspects, thus it is necessary to raise people’s awareness about clean water usage to protect their health. Hence, the company has conducted regular campaigns in the form of posters and programs broadcast on mass media and television,” shared Director General Le Van Son.
