Vietnam, South Korea Promote PPP Environmental Cooperation
At a recent meeting with the Korean Environment Corporation (KECO), Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Bui Cach Tuyen affirmed the close cooperative relations between Vietnam and South Korea in many fields, especially in the environmental protection. He also informed KECO Chairman Lee Sin Jin of Vietnam’s ongoing national programme for environmental pollution remediation and environmental improvement. The National Target Programme focuses on three major issues: (1) tackling environment pollution in cottage industry villages, (2) Remediating soil contaminated by pesticide residues, (3) tackling environmental pollution in river basins. Deputy Minister Tuyen suggested that South Korean Government support Vietnam to deal with environmental remediation through Official Development Assistance ODA.
KECO Chairman Lee Sin Jin highly appreciated the efforts of the Government of Vietnam and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in the environmental protection. South Korea will propose partaking in such projects as pollution management project for Vietnamese industrial parks, wastewater treatment facility construction project for Nhue - Day handicraft village, industrial waste treatment facility construction project for Nam Son landfill area. South Korea will also propose the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment promote the efficiency of E-Manifest project. He affirmed that South Korea government will provide best support as well as funding support for handling and improving environment especially in the form of public and private partnership (PPP).
