Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Mr Pham Gia Tuc, recently hosted a meeting with Deputy Secretary General of China Secretariat of the China - ASEAN Business Council (CABC), Mr Xu Ningning, at VCCI Headquarters in Hanoi.
Mr Xu Ningning said, with the purpose of enhancing the understanding of famous ASEAN and China products and supporting famous enterprises in China and ASEAN to expand their market presence. The Chinese Secretariat of China ASEAN Business Council (CABC) will introduce popular products of ASEAN countries and China. The list of popular ASEAN products was published twice, in May and July 2013, and received positive responses from the media world. The secretariat plans to publish the third issue in October and recommend VCCI to introduce the list of famous Vietnamese enterprises.

In addition, Mr Xu Ningning expected China and ASEAN to promote cooperation in various industries. Currently, 50 Chinese business associations serve as the members of the CABC; thus, CABC indeed pays attention to developing industry cooperation among business associations of China and ASEAN. The secretariat will send the list of Chinese companies of various industries and trades to VCCI and hope to receive a similar list of Vietnamese companies to China for joint study for potential mutual development and cooperation.

Mr Xu said the Secretariat is assessing and ranking the Top 10 Chinese companies with successful investments in ASEAN and the Top 10 ASEAN companies successful in China, with the purpose of enhancing mutual understanding. This is also an opportunity for businesses of the two sides to better understand the experience of successful investment of Top 10 firms. Therefore, the secretariat has proposed that Vietnamese and Chinese embassies introduce, and asked VCCI to introduce, successful businesses in Vietnam.

As for VCCI’s operations, Mr Xu suggested VCCI provide information about its activities to post on the website of the Chinese Secretariat. This is an opportunity to promote the image of VCCI and strengthen the two-side relationship for mutual cooperation and development. Besides, he proposed that VCCI support a Chinese steelmaker looking for a location and incentives as well, for a US$1 billion steel project.

VCCI Vice President Pham Gia Tuc appreciated China’s strategic activities and generalised three areas of Chinese interests, namely trade cooperation, investment cooperation, and authority cooperation. He totally agreed with China’s suggestions and informed the Chinese side that VCCI in general and the Vietnam - China Business Forum in particular would make every effort to cooperate, provide information at the request of China to promote Vietnam - China cooperation, increase trade turnover, reduce Vietnam's trade deficit with China, and look to sustainable development.

In the spirit of four good things and 16 golden letters, VCCI Vice President Pham Gia Tuc also suggested that the two sides need practical activities and good coordination, and asked the Chinese side to provide positive information for VCCI to coordinate and accomplish the goals set out.

Regarding the support for the Chinese company to seek investment location, Mr Tuc asked the Chinese side to provide information to make a direction introduction.
