Busadco’s Chairman Granted Honorary Ph.D of World Records University

On September, 21st 2013, in Ho Chi Minh City, in the framework of the 26th Record-holder Reunion held by the Vietnam Record Organization, there were more than 500 record-holders from nationwide. Principal of the World Records University, headquartered in the UK, Mr Thomas Bains, directly awarded honorary doctorates for six record-holders in Vietnam including Labour Hero Hoang Duc Thao, Chairman and General Director of Ba Ria - Vung Tau Urban Sewerage and Development Company (Busadco). These are the first Vietnamese to be awarded doctoral degrees from the World Records University.
Mr Hoang Duc Thao received a doctorate for the project "The first Vietnamese to win the most awards from international organisations of scientific and technological innovation." From 2004 to 2012, he was the author of 23 projects on science and technology in the field of urban and rural infrastructure and environmental protection. He also owns 18 patents and inventions and utility solutions. He has won 17 awards in science nationally and internationally, including six awards in Vietnam (Vifotec) and 11 international awards (4 Techmart Asean+3 gold medals in 2009, 1 special award , 2 gold medals, 1 silver award of Seoul International Invention Fair ( SIIF ) of South Korea in 2008, 2009, 2 gold medals of International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition [ITEX] in Malaysia in 2010, 2012, 1 award from the World Intellectual Property Organization [WIPO]) for the most creative scientific and technological project in Vietnam in 2009.
Also, under his leadership, Busadco has won numerous awards such as the Global Excellence Award by the Asia-Pacific International Quality Organization, Vietnam Environment Award in 2010, National Quality Award in 2011. The Vietnam Press Association picked Busadco as one of the most prominent 10 science and technology events in 2012. Vietnam Report considers Busadco one in 500 growing companies in Vietnam for three consecutive years. Busadco is currently holding the Vietnamese record as "enterprise to win the most science and technology awards from organisations of scientific and technological innovation in the country and in the world."
The scientific and technological products innovated by Mr Hoang Duc Thao produced at 5 factories in Hanoi, Thai Binh, Nghe An, Khanh Hoa and Ba Ria - Vung Tau, are applied effectively in 48 provinces in Vietnam and initially exported to Malaysia and Laos. 14 provincial people’s committees have issued guidelines to apply Busadco technology products in the area. Busadco has had 17 invention patents and utility solutions by the Ministry of Science and Technology, 5 certificates of appropriate technology approved by the Ministry of Construction to apply nationwide and export, 18 quality standards certificates by the Technical Centre for Standards and Quality.
