Seven Farm Products Join US$1 Bln Export Club

Seafood, timber, rice, coffee, rubber, cashew nuts and cassava earned more than US$1 billion in export turnover each in 2013.
Aquatic export ranked first with US$6.7 billion, up 10.1 percent against in 2012. The US is the largest importer of Vietnam’s aquatic products, with value of US$1.33 billion, up 21.9 percent year on year and accounting for 21.89 percent of total export of the product.
 
Timber and wood products brought home US$5.37 billion up 15.2 percent against last year, ranking second. Export of this item saw high growth in big markets such as the US (up 10.26 percent), China (up 34.64 percent), Japan (up 20.97 percent) and the Republic of Korea (up 45.23 percent) over the past 11 months of 2013.
 
Export turnover of rice reached 6.61 million tonnes, valued at US$2.95 billion. China ranked first among rice importers of Vietnam, with 2 million tonnes, worth US$849.36 million, accounting for 30.93 percent.
 
Coffee raked in US$2.75 billion, standing in the fourth place, followed by rubber US$2.52 billion, cashew nuts US$1.63 billion and cassava US$1.11 billion.
