COSEVCO Diversifies Products to Meet Customers' Demand

Local market is now fond of interiors made of aluminium because aluminium materials are finer than iron ones. Aluminium products are not much oxygenated. They are lighter, more durable and more easily to be processed for civil and industrial works. Some major aluminium products include casement window, sliding window, swinging window, roll door, lower door, porch roof, wardrobe, bar and rim for glass window and ceiling.

COSEVCO has provided considerably amount of aluminium products for local market. COSEVCO is now operating the biggest aluminium workshop in the central region, which locates in Nha Trang City. COSEVCO has modern production line with advanced technologies, ensuring of turning out high-quality products. The company has been granted ISO 9001:2000 certificate.

COSEVCO imports aluminium ingots for its production. Currently, the company is applying a new technology that is first present in Vietnam. Aluminium ingots are put into smelting furnace then brought into casting machine for solid tubes. Those tubes will be then put into pressing machines to make aluminium bars, which will after that be processed with handness treatment machine and polished by ejector machine. If clients want coloured aluminium bars, the factory can also plate with some colours such as bronze or black.

According to COSEVCO director, the company is on right track of development. It will be privatised next year. The forthcoming move will be momentum for stronger and faster development. Currently, the company is operating around 30 per cent of its capacity in producing finished aluminium bars. The rate will be 70 per cent in 2005 and 100 per cent in 2006. COSEVCO's products are now present at works nation-wide.

Construction is also a strong point of COSEVCO. With six subsidiaries and one consulting centre, the company is expected to reach total revenues of VND80 billion (US$5.1 million) this year. It also planned to further diversify its business, especially in construction fields. Apart from traditional business of transport construction, the company will expand to levelling of construction site and real estate business in 2005.

One important business of COSEVCO is construction of small- and medium-sized hydropower plants. The company started construction of Ong River hydropower plant in May this year with total investment of VND160 billion (US$10.2 million). The plant is expected to become operational in 2006. The company is also investing in Cai River hydropower plant. All electricity will be sold to the Electricity of Vietnam.
