Farm Exports Reach US$2.32 Billion in January

Vietnam’s farm, forestry and fishery export products earned an estimated US$2.32 billion in January, down 9.7 percent against the same period in 2013, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
 
Farm products were estimated to rake in US$1.17 billion, down 17.9 percent, while forestry items were to bring in US$534 million, up 3.3 percent and fishery, US$552 million, up 13.9 percent.
 
Decreases were seen in several major export staples such as coffee, rubber, pepper and cassava products with rubber suffering the strongest decline.
 
In January, Vietnam exported 90,000 tonnes of rubber worth US$199 million, down 17.5 percent in volume and 32.8 percent in value over last January.
 
In 2013, Vietnam's agro-forestry-fishery exports hit about US$27.47 billion.
