The Hue Festival 2014 will be held from April 12-20, 2014. It not only introduces visitors to the culture of Vietnam in general, Hue culture in particular, but also presents an image of a peaceful, innovating and developing country to international friends of Vietnam.
Built on the theme "Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development ", the Hue Festival 2014 represents Hue cultural history, other culture events of Vietnam, as well as performs attractive large-scale activities related to culture, tourism, art and festivals.
The Hue Festival 2014 is the first Vietnamese contemporary festival based on a new concept of festival, taking the model of festival of famous cities in the world. As a special culture tourism event taking place every 2 years with the national and international scale from 2000 to present, through 7 editions, Hue Festival is a place to gather and find many excellent art programmes representing different cultures around the world.
Except for the opening and closing ceremonies, the Festival will introduce to visitors a series of cultural activities such as Nam Giao Offering Ritual, Royal Night, Ao Dai Festival, Oriental Night, Royal Musical Performances, Folk Games, Puppetry, Martial Arts and Dance Performances, Trinh Cong Son Music, International Workshops, International Trade Fair during the event.
The festival’s steering committee said “until now, 40 art troupes of 5 continents from 31 countries worldwide have registered to participate in the Festival”. Another ten countries are busy recruiting the most outstanding art troupes to serve the residents and visitors at the Hue Festival 2014. Vietnam also has more than 20 art troupes. The international art troupes bring many art forms to the Festival. Many famous art groups in the world festivals namely Sururu Na Roda Band (Brazil), Bati - holic drum art troupe (Japan ), Asayel folk dance troupe (Palestine) will take part in the Hue Festival for the first time.
Hue Festival 2014 will be held with national and international scale, connect cultural-historical events of Thua Thien Hue, cultural-political events of Vietnam, and also combine culture, tourism, art activities and large-scale festivals which are new and attractive. The successful organisation of Hue Festival 2014 will create a driving force of socio-economic development, rebrand Hue Festival features built up over the previous festivals, and thereby continue to reaffirm the position of Thua Thien Hue - a unique culture and tourism centre of the country, giving Thua Thien Hue a stronger basis for becoming a central city.
