Enhancing State Management over Natural Resources and Environment
In recent years, resources management and environmental protection in Ha Giang province have substantially improved thanks to better and more effective mechanisms and policies to these aspects as well as clear socioeconomic development objectives.
More than 38 companies in Ha Giang province are engaged in mineral extraction and processing, including seven companies specialised in mining, mineral processing and building material production. In general, the mining industry provided jobs for more than 2,000 workers, and paid tens of billions of Vietnamese dong to the State coffers. Mining companies have actively improved expertise and experience of their employees and upgraded and modernised mining equipment to better exploit and process mineral ores and economise water resources.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has also collaborated with four districts on Dong Van Karst Plateau, the Northern Federation of Resources Planning and Survey in examining and analysing water quality in 19 wells. With good water reserves and quality, 14 wells in Dong Van and Meo Vac districts can be put into commercial operation.
In 2013, the department advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee on policies to implement the Resolution No. 19-NQ/TW of the Central Party Committee on continued land policy reform; on instructions to People’s Committees of districts and cities on land administration, land compensation, site clearance and residential resettlement. The department also performed periodical checks into 22 projects on environmental protection in the province.
In 2014, the department will continue to advise the Provincial People's Committee on the amended Land Law and instructive documents of the Government and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and on amendments to incomplete contents in land compensation and site clearance policies. It will intensify inspection into mining activities to detect, prevent and handle environmental pollution violations.
