GGN Specialists Survey Dong Van Karst Plateau

 

GGN specialists were informed of typical cultural values in livelihood and production activities of ethnic groups in Ha Giang province in general and on the rock plateau in particular. Then, the visitors paid field trips to districts in the geopark to learn about the implementation of GGN contents and criteria.

 

In the past time, the local government has built plans to support production and advertise handicrafts, beautified residential areas and tourist attractions, replaced instruction boards at tourist sites and administrative agencies in Vietnamese and English, built and operated cultural villages in combination with new countryside construction programme, strictly forbidden stone and stalactite exploitation in the geopark, and protected information boards and the environment. The authorities have also installed rubbish bins in tourist attractions, collected information and intangible cultural values for the Management Board to publish handbooks, erected information boards to introduce local geological heritages, cultures and biodiversity, allocated funds to raise public awareness of the geopark, coordinated with relevant units to carry out tourism development projects and construct small museums of community culture.
