Vietnam Top Chefs Entering World Famous Bocuse d’Or Culinary Competition
In the next few weeks, Chef Nguyen Le Hoang Phat will represent Vietnam at the international culinary competition that will take place from June 26 to 27 June 2014 in Shanghai, China. This is an international cooking contest and the continental selection event for the Bocuse d’Or, the most highly regarded culinary competition in the world.
As the event will showcase the latest trends in cuisine worldwide and promote the diversity of culinary heritage, it places a strong emphasis on flavours and tasting. “The competition is a challenge but a dream for all chefs who will join it,” said Chef David Thai, President of Bocuse d'Or Vietnam. “The team will try its best and we aim to be finalists for the international finals in France next year.”
According to Mr. Philippe Bacac, Managing Director Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam, “This is the second time Vietnam has joined the Bocuse d'Or and being part of this world famous cooking competition is a great way to represent Vietnam’s cuisine and culture."
“We understand the needs of professional chefs and are supporting the national team on their way to the upcoming cooking competition in the region,” added Mr. Bacac. “We believe one of our missions is to help young, innovative chefs in this country to successfully represent Vietnam’s cuisine on the international stage.”
The Bocuse d'Or team from Vietnam includes instructor Chef Michael Bao Huynh, President of Bocuse d'Or Vietnam Chef David Thai, Chef Nguyen Le Hoang Phat and his assistant, Nguyen Huynh Thanh Long.
The Asian contest will select the five most talented chefs to go to the final held Lyon in France in 2015. Since 1987, the Bocuse d'Or contest has been giving young chefs a unique opportunity to demonstrate their skills, offering them a tremendous springboard for their careers.
