Vietnam Manufacturing Expo Empowers Supporting Industries

The co-located shows of Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2014 and Industrial Components and Subcontracting Vietnam (ICS Vietnam 2014) taking place during August 27-29 in Hanoi closed with a great success and were warmly welcomed by the total number of nearly 9,000 trade buyers both local and overseas from 25 countries and territories such as Australia, China, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Spain, Taiwan, UK, USA, ASEAN countries and others.
 
According to Mr. Duangdej Yuaikwarmdee, Deputy Managing Director and General Manager Vietnam of Reed Tradex Co., Ltd., the shows created a good platform for the visitors to discover leading-edge technologies by 6 national pavilions and 200 brands from 20 countries that they sought along with quality parts for manufacturing and electronics industries from Vietnamese and Thai suppliers to showcase top brands of machine tools, metalworking, and electronics manufacturing technologies. Hanoi Trade and Promotion Center, with support from Hanoi People’s Committee, broung over 70 Vietnamese parts manufacturers exhibiting industrial parts in ICS Vietnam 2014.
 
Mr. Sompong Darasrisak, Senior Professional Level of Investment Promotion Officer BOI Unit for Industrial Linkage Development (BUILD), Thailand Board of Investment (BOI) said: “With successful outcome from previous edition, our members join the show again this year to expand their businesses to Vietnam through high quality industrial parts made from metal, plastics and rubber for automotive, electronics. Moreover, we organize Business Matchmaking service to enable direct interactions between Thai manufacturers and Vietnamese sellers.”
 
According to Mr. Yong Tze Kang, Senior Executive, Global Business Group of Singapore Manufacturing Federation (SMF), SMF brings here the best in machinery and technologies from Singapore with the aim to showcase the initiatives of their exhibiting companies, and how their solutions are designed to address the specific needs of manufacturing.
 
 
The shows displayed leading brands with best technologies in machine tools, sheet metalworking, welding, robot in “The Stars of Technology Pavilion”, and included the second edition of “Engineer Master Class,” multi-session course on skill, HR, and technology management to develop a rewarding career path for engineers. One of the shows’ highlights was The Koma Taisen batlle which made the first ASEAN debut with 16 companies in Vietnam who put their best “in-house” manufacturing technologies to craft spintops to win over competitors.
The winner of this tournament  was from Leo Electronics Vietnam and will go to join the tournament in Japan. Mr. Kazuhiro Funabashi, Managing Director of Goko Spring Vietnam Co., Ltd. said: “Koma Tasen motivates companies to create koma to take part in spintops battles. It will be a good opportunity for manufacturing industry to show and promote their professional skills. This battle appeals companies and also visitors who are interested in Monozukuri, Japanese style manufacturing processes”.

With the exhibitions organized by Reed Tradex, Japanese companies can know more Vietnamese partners as well as about Vietnamese industry. In addition, JETRO also do thorough research and valuation to publish a booklet of 150 Vietnamese excellent manufacturers in supporting industry every year. From there the businesses are promoted and they can contact to establish partnerships. In 5 to 10 years, big manufacturers such as Toyota, Honda, etc. will be able to increase the procurement ratio and switch the supporting supplies to local companies.
