The Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Council (VWEC) under the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) held a Gala Dinner called “Value of sharing” in Hanoi on October 12, 2014. This event commemorated the anniversary of the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day, October 13, and the Vietnam Women’s Day, October 20.
The "Value of Sharing" Gala Dinner was not only a commemorative event to celebrate the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day but also a forum for businesswomen to share their knowledge and experience and unite their strength, intelligence and power. Dr Vu Tien Loc, VCCI President, said, three Vietnamese businesswomen were named in the list of 50 most powerful businesswomen in Asia, announced by Forbes. This is a clear evidence that Vietnamese women entrepreneurs can do business as well as men.

International economic integration has opened up huge opportunities but also posed numerous challenges to Vietnamese female entrepreneurs. To be successful, they must strive to overcome four core obstacles: “Firstly, women still lack access to education and training of necessary business knowledge. Secondly, they still face difficulty in accessing the market. Thirdly, they see difficulty in borrowing money from banks. Fourthly, they often lack the networks, mentoring and business leadership opportunities.”
Nguyen Thi Tuyet Minh, Chairwoman of VWEC and Chairwoman of Women Entrepreneurship Network (AWEN), stressed that one of the secrets that can help women entrepreneurs to deal with core difficulties is the sharing. They can share knowledge, experience, information, resources, ideas and brand names or franchising. She added that as VWEC is the common roof of the Vietnamese women entrepreneurs, it has, and will, endeavoured to provide capacity-building advice and support for them, connect networks and make VWEC a useful support and information-sharing agency. Taking on the chairwomanship of AWEN in the 2014-2016 term, VWEC will act as a bridge to promote investment, business and trade to Vietnamese women entrepreneurs with the region and the world.

VWEC was set up in 2001 as an affiliated body to the VCCI Executive Committee. It gathers and represents businesswomen, women-led businesses and women associations and clubs of all economic sectors.
