Textile & Apparel Enterprises: More Opportunities to Access New Technology

Recognising the demands of new technology and equipment innovation in Vietnam, many international brands are coming to Vietnam.
According to a report of Executive Board of Vietnam Textile & Apparel Association, till end of third quarter of 2014, Vietnam’s textile export increased 19 percent compared to the same period of 2013, export value stayed at US$21.8 billion while imported value of material stayed at US$11. With such a speed, Vietnam’s textile sector will exceed its plan from US$0.5 – 1 billion. 
 
With advantages from free trade agreements (FTA) such as Vietnam-Korea, Vietnam-EU, Vietnam-Belarus-Kazakhstan Customs Union or TPP expecting to be signed end of 2014 will affirm that Vietnam is a strong exporter of textile and apparel with planned target of double growth in the next ten years.
 
Based on above advantages, many international companies are looking at Vietnam as an ideal destination for production. In 2014, many from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, etc, have invested in the textile and apparel sector in Vietnam.
 
According to experts, to enhance competitiveness, textile and apparel companies need to be well prepared for both quality and quantity. The core fact is modern technology and equipment. As the demands of enhanced equipment are increasing in Vietnam, many international brands such as Artrend, Da Kong, Eksoy, Tajima, Welltex, Sroque, etc have been seeking for partners and introducing their products in Vietnam. At the 14th Vietnam International Exhibition for manufacturers and suppliers in Textile and Garment Industry (VTG 2014) held in Ho Chi Minh City from October 29-November 1, 2014, 170 exhibitors with 300 pavilions from China, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore, USA, etc, have introduced many new equipment and technology.
Mr Jorge Fernandes, Export Director of Sroque (Spain), at VTG 2014, Sroque introduced its key product of screen printing machines. There is an increasing demand of this kind of product in Vietnam due to its advantages such as labor saving, reduction of input materials.
 
At VTG 2014, Vietnam based companies providing software and equipment in the textile and garment industry also participate to showcase their products.
 
CSP Co. Ltd, headquartered in Tan Binh District, Ho Chi Minh City, introduced its professional consulting solutions 2D & 3D CAD / CAM in garment, bags, leather seats. These solutions help enterprises save costs, reduction of production time and increase of competitiveness. CSP also introduce some printers and cutting machines from Spain and Japan. Mr Nguyen Minh Quang, technical director of CSP, said that these products have been already launched in Vietnam with reasonable prices.
Anh Duong Technology Development Investment (Anh Duong), headquartered in Hanoi, introduced computerized embroidery machine Tajima (Japan). Mr Han Ngoc Son, Director of Anh Duong said that Anh Duong is an exclusive supplier of Tajima machine, the company also provide technical support and maintenance services. Anh Duong is also a official distributor of Hefeng, Morgan Tecica, CD Tech, Ruizhou, Bordor, etc.
Hong Thai Technology Co.,Ltd, headquartered Ho Chi Minh City, introduced barudan computerized embroidery machine made in Japan. This machine can make 9 colored products, help save cost and enhance efficiency as 9 times as the same machine. . Director of Hong Thai Ly Ky Lam revealed that this machine is used by many local companies. 
Mr Ngo Thanh Hiep, Director of Tam Phu Hiep Company, Ho Chi Minh City, said that the company introduced some textile machines. In the first 9 months of 2014, 60 textile machines were sold and expected 20 more will be sold till end of this year. He said there are more and more companies from neighboring countries shift their production to Vietnam, so the potential for industrial embroidery machine suppliers is very huge.
 
Addressing at the VTG 2014, Ms Phan Thi Thanh Minh, General Director of Agency for southern affairs of Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade, said that VTG 2014 will basically meet the demands of seeking stable machine and equipment as well as material sources and suitable for Vietnam textile and garment industry. VTG 2014 is an opportunity for Vietnamese enterprises to access advanced technology to improve quality, productivity and to meet the increasing export demands of Vietnam.
