The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) coordinated with the Vietnam Prosperity Bank (VPBank) and Microsoft Vietnam to organise the “Conference on Entrepreneurship in Dynamic Economy” in Hanoi on November 19, 2014. This is one of the main activities of the Global Entrepreneurship Week 2014 (GEW) held from November 17 to 23, 2014 in over 150 countries.
From 2014, November 19 became the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day (WED).
Speakers from GEW United States, VCCI, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Vietnam Women Entrepreneurs Association, VPBank, Microsoft and other entities discussed entrepreneurship in dynamic economy, entrepreneurship education, small and medium enterprises in the new stage of development of the country, information technology solutions for women entrepreneurs, and other contents.
Tran Thi Hong Minh, Director of Business Registration Department under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, said entrepreneurship is one of important factors to the success of a company. Economic researchers have affirmed that the economic crisis is cyclical and happens at the back of overheating development stage. Thus, overcoming crisis is no longer a novel concept to enterprises. Recovering after the crisis and seizing business opportunities is the measure of the quality of a company.

She said, in major economies, resilience to crisis is an essential requirement of companies with specific development orientations and long-term visions. Therefore, recent economic difficulties can be seen as initial challenges for Vietnamese companies to strengthen their health and boost their competitiveness on the market.
The workshop focused on inspiring entrepreneurial spirit of businesswomen and introduced information technology solutions to corporate governance to them. As a leading global corporation, Microsoft always stands side by side with Vietnamese businesses. Microsoft Vietnam and VCCI carried out the project “Developing and enhancing ICT skills for small and medium businesses in Southeast Asia”. After nearly two years, the project has supported nearly 1,000 businesses and young entrepreneurs aged 19-35 from cottage industry villages to raise understanding and promote ICT competencies, especially in e-business and e-commerce, to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in traditional villages.
VPBank SME Idea 2014 was also launched during the event. Aimed to support business initiatives and turn feasible ideas into reality through the contest, themed “Golden Journey - Breakthrough Ideas,” VPBank has added strengths for SMEs by financial services and solutions and lighten start-up ideas.
GEW is a gust of wind that blows the entrepreneurial spirit in Vietnam to a higher plane, conveys inspirations and stimulates creativity to new entrepreneurs. Vietnamese entrepreneurs together with worldwide businessmen have, and will, continued to play important roles in global economic development.
