Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam has almost completed its preparation and is also offering continued rebate programs to boost demand and help its professional customers to have a good Lunar New Year (Tet) 2015 in terms of business performance, a representative of the company reveals.
The end of the year is also when prices of a whole range of goods tend to rise, making lives harder for both producing firms and consumers. To better support customers, Metro proactively sets up connections with producers, suppliers and farmers as early as Q3/2014 to ensure adequate supplies at the best prices.
Mr. Nguyen Vu Thuan, Procurement and Trade Assistant Manager, Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam said: “This year, we plan a VND 3,000 billion Tet package with a strong emphasis on essential domestically made products including processed foods, raw and fresh foods, dried foodstuffs, consumer goods, beverages, among others, to make sure there will be no shortage of supply or price surge”.
Metro also joins forces with producers offering promotion campaigns from December 2014 toward the end of February 2015 for more than 15,000 good items. These promotional programs revolve around foods, fashion products, bedding, electronics, home appliances and so on, and come with themes like Agroproduct fair, Consumer goods fair, Confectionery world, Beverage world, among others, in periods leading to Tet, with 15-49% sales off prices. Metro representatives suggest that consumers make the best use of these offerings at this time to avoid the year-end rushing time.
A survey with professional customers including restaurants, hotels, eateries and convenience stores in HCMC, purchasing power is expected to grow by 18-22% among these groups this year. Beverages, raw foods and detergents remain the buyers’ favorite choices for purchase and reserves among usual Tet consumer products.
To support these customer groups, Metro offers a Tet reserve support program with multiple promotions, professional services and attractive gifts, helping customers to keep input prices unchanged without fear of short supply, price surges or post-Tet glut of unsold goods. Furthermore, to assist corporate customers based in industrial parks and other firms in providing year-end benefits for their staff, Metro introduced a support package comprising 500 essential product items and Tet offering solutions targeting firms’ employees.
In addition to stabilizing prices and preventing price hikes, food safety is also placed strong importance by Metro in a bid to provide the safest products to customers. The company also extends work time from 5 a.m. to late night on Feb. 6 – 18 to help customers save time in the days approaching Tet.
