Metro Cash & Carry Opens Fourth Supermarket in Vietnam
Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam inaugurated the fourth wholesale centre in Vietnam on December 22 in southern Can Tho City with the aim of expanding its business networks and capitalise on the abundant supply sources there.
The three-hectare Metro Hung Loi Centre, located in Ninh Kieu district, will offer 15,000 commodities to retailers and big consumers in the region.Metro Cash & Carry is licensed to build eight such trading centres across Vietnam with a total investment of US$120 million. Set up in 2002, Metro Cash & Carry Vietnam, which has a 1,200-strong work force, secured total revenues of VND1.7 trillion (US$108.3 million) and paid VND170 billion (US$10.8 million) to the State budget in 2003. It expects sales of US$160 million this year.
