Representatives of Vietjet flight crew announce their commitment to provide safe and quality services during an event in Ho Chi Minh City

Vietjet has received the certificate of IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) from the International Air Transportation Association (IATA) for its outstanding operational standards.

The airline recently received the certificate in Ho Chi Minh City during an event to review its business performance for the first half of the year and discuss strategy planning for the second half.

Blair Cowles, IATA’s Asia-Pacific Regional Director for Safety and Flight Operations, said during the event that “IOSA is an internationally accepted and recognized evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.

“IOSA certification involves a great deal of hard work and requires a significant commitment of people, time and resources.”

Cowles said that IOSA certificate, first introduced in 2001, is given to airlines that meet all requirements in different sectors including the management system, the operation quality, security control, technical maintenance and ground service offers.

The association has granted the certificate to 396 carriers worldwide and Vietjet is the second receiver in Vietnam, after the national carrier Vietnam Airlines.

Cowles said the certificate reception means the association recognizes Vietjet’s continuous efforts and strong commitment to improve its safety and quality to become one of the favorite carriers in the region and the world.

Nguyen Nhat, Deputy Transport Minister, during the event urged Vietjet, with its good business management experience, to invest in aviation infrastructure to participate in the government’s plan to draw privatized investments in building and managing airports, including Long Thanh, Da Nang and Cam Ranh.

Nhat, who attended a Vietjet event for the first time, said he was impressed with the carrier’s youthful dynamics and its outstanding business accomplishments.

He said Vietjet’s “impressive growth” during the first half contributed largely to the country’s aviation development and the economic growth.

He suggested the company build high quality personnel training programs to allow more Vietnamese people to hold important positions in the business.

Flying opportunities for everyone
Nhat praised the airline’s various promotions as a boost to air travel in the country, opening chance for safe and convenient travel to almost anyone.

The carrier has brought flying opportunities to millions of people by offering reasonable prices and making air travel a common choice for many people in Vietnam as well as overseas.

Luu Duc Khanh, Vietjet’s Managing Director said that there is now a flight between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City every 15 to 20 minutes.

“We did not have that high frequency before. Vietjet is proud to be a factor actively contributing to that major development,” he said.

The carrier has made preparations to welcome the opportunities and overcome the challenges brought by ASEAN aviation integration program “Open Sky”, he said, adding that opening air services to the public is one of its guidelines and it will plan new air routes and add more aircraft to bring better services to more people.

Vietjet currently operates a fleet of 26 aircraft of A320s and A321s with 33 domestic and international routes from Vietnam to Thailand, South Korea, Cambodia, Singapore, Taiwan and China.

The company reported revenue of more than VND5.7 trillion (US$254.5 million) during the first half this year from carrying four million passengers on nearly 25,800 domestic and international flights.
