VCCI Vice President, Dr Doan Duy Khuong, on September 9 had a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Singapore, H.E. Krik Wagar, who led a delegation of U.S. businesses of the American Chamber of Commerce (Amcham) in Singapore visiting Vietnam for an update on the investment environment and business opportunities.
The delegation includes representatives from multinational corporations and big companies from the U.S. in the fields of energy, health, education, aerospace, ICT, law, tourism, real estate, engineering such as Johnson & Johnson, Lookheed Martin, McDonald’s, Mead Johnson Nuitrition, and others.
Dr Khuong appreciated the importance of the meeting in particular and the stronger and closer cooperation between Vietnam and the U.S. in general, especially as the two countries are celebrating the 20th anniversary of diplomatic relations in 2015, adding that U.S. companies based in Singapore will find more favourable conditions when looking for business opportunities in Vietnam.
According to U.S. Ambassador to Singapore Krik Wagar, Vietnam is one of the most interesting business places in the region and that’s why these members of Amcham Singapore are paying special attention to the market. The U.S. is the largest investor in ASEAN, and there are around 3,600 U.S. businesses in Singapore, so the delegation wishes to have deeper understandings of Vietnam, update more new, attractive investment policies, and look for business opportunities to cooperate, noted the Ambassador.
With the role of supporting the Vietnamese Government to promote the business community’s international integration, VCCI has joined hands with many foreign chambers of commerce in Vietnam to help connect local businesses with foreign partners, and is also looking forward to cooperating with more chambers of commerce in the U.S. in the coming time.
