The Haiphong Branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) hosted a solemn ceremony to celebrate the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day, October 13, and honour exemplary entrepreneurs in the northern coastal region in 2015 at the Haiphong Convention Centre on October 7, 2015. This was the fourth year in a row VCCI Haiphong held such an event.
On October 13, 1945, shortly after the Democratic Republic of Vietnam was founded, President Ho Chi Minh wrote a letter to all entrepreneurs in Vietnam, placing a stress on their roles in the national reconstruction. He wrote: “I am happy to know that you, entrepreneurs, have united, become the nation-saving entrepreneur force and join Viet Minh. Currently, nation-saving entrepreneurs are working hard on many things beneficiary to the people. I very much welcome and expect good results. While other circles are endeavouring to gain the absolute national independence, the business circle must work to build a strong and prosperous economy and finance.
The Government, the people and I will conscientiously help the business circle with this reconstruction process. Family affairs and national affairs always go hand in hand. If the national economy is prosperous, your business is prosperous too. Therefore, I hope that the business circle will convince industrialists and merchants to join the nation-saving business circle and bring their capital to the cause that benefit the nation and the people.”
October 13 was then chosen the Vietnam Entrepreneurs Day. In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of Uncle Ho’s letter to the business world, VCCI Haiphong Branch hosted the fourth ceremony to celebrate the event and hold in the highest regard to entrepreneurs in the northern coastal region. This was an opportunity for entrepreneurs in the region to interact, exchange and cooperate with each other in production and business activities. The award ceremony showed the recognition of the community to great contributions of entrepreneurs; applauded and encouraged their efforts to overcome disadvantages arising from global economic crisis, bring prosperity to the locality, region and nation, and give a helping hand to the cause of national economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony, VCCI President Vu Tien Loc stressed: "Entrepreneurs are at the centre of integration and development era and at the forefront of all forces. The whole society gives the highest regard and respect to them, protect them and facilitate them to do successful business. To help entrepreneurs win this struggle, governments at all levels must act as a firm, innovate rear. VCCI will try the best to advise the Party and the State to monitor and step up administrative reform. We also expect entrepreneurs will make progressive changes, from vision to professionalism. "
