Hue Festival 2016, themed “710 years of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan - Thua Thien Hue, Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development’, will be officially opened on April 29, 2016 and closed on May 4, 2016. This festival also includes the Forum for East Asia-Latin America Cooperation, a gathering of city mayors in East Asia-Latin America.
Hue Festival is the contemporary first festival in Vietnam developed from the new concept of festival based on festival models from various cities in the world. As a typical cultural tourism event, which takes place every two years starting from 2000, Hue Festival - with eight editions held - brings together excellent arts companies with unique performances from all over the world.
Mr Che Cong Chung, Director of Hue Festival Centre, said, aimed to uphold traditional values and show up modernity, Hue Festival 2016 will focus on events in which both people and tourists can take part in and enjoy.
Many arts companies from other countries will perform during the festival and France will be still a major partner. Arts groups and famous artists from 18 countries like France, Belgium, Russia, England, Denmark, Poland, South Korea, Japan, Sri Lanka, Australia, the United States and Mexico have officially registered to take part in. Domestic arts companies and street arts troupes will bring interesting performances to this festival.
The festival also features famous rituals, galas and arts displays like Te Giao Worship, Hue Buddhist Festival, Quang Chieu Lights Festival, Trinh Cong Son Music Programme, and Hue Poetry Festival.
