An online travel mart, VITM Online, was officially launched on the website www.tripi.vn on April 11, 2016, becoming the first online travel mart in Vietnam where tourists can buy package tours, hotel stays and airfares.
Launched for a trial run nearly one year ago, VITM Online is operated by Trade and Tourism Technology Development Joint Stock Company (TETTO). The online mart allows consumers quicker access to tourism products and promotion programmes.
In essence, VITM Online resembles conventional VITM but it is different in ways of approaching. Tours with promotional value are offered on both channels. Physical and online exchanges will sell products at the 50-50 ratio and flexibly interchanged to meet customers’ needs.
At the website
www.tripi.vn, travel agencies, hotels and airlines will offer their products with clear information to facilitate customers to make quick comparison and make best choices. Besides, customers can look up and compare room rates from other major hotel websites like agoda.com, booking.com, ivivu.com, chudu24.com, mytour.vn, hotels.com and expedia.com.vn.
In particular, customers can explore the cost differences in tour, flight, hotel, food and menu at different times as offered by travel companies.
“As Vietnamese people are keen on comparing tour prices, the Tripi electronic trading platform enables customers to search and compare prices of tourism products and accurately update product information on the website around the clock. Tourists can look up and compare products and room rates from big, popular partner hotel websites of Tripi like agoda.com, booking.com, hotels.com and expedia.com.vn. This is a distinct advantage of VITM Online,” said Nguyen Van Hoa, General Director of TETTO.
“Currently, 18 tourism businesses have joined VITM Online and members are expected to increase sharply after the official launch on April 14. Tripi.vn is sponsored by the Vietnam Tourism Association,” Mr Vu The Binh, Deputy Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association.
