To further boost Vietnam - Taiwan trade ties, the Ho Chi Minh City Branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI-HCM) recently coordinated with the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (Taitra) to organise a conference on introduction of “Machinery Industry and Taiwan Related Trade Shows” for Vietnamese companies. At the event, Taitra representatives introduced four specialised exhibitions in Taiwan as well as incentive and support programmes for Vietnamese businesses if they want to visit those exhibitions.

Mr Brian Lee, Deputy Director of Taitra Exhibition Unit in Taipei, said that Vietnam is the second largest importer of Taiwanese plastic and rubber machines in the world and the largest in Southeast Asia. In 2015, Vietnam imported US$1 billion worth of industrial machinery from Taiwan. Currently, Taiwan's industrial clusters are mainly based in Taichung City where 1,500 industrial companies are located. Taiwan’s industrial machinery feature high quality, competitive price and diversity. Thus, they are quite popular in the world.

Mr Alex Pen, Project Manager of Taitra, said four upcoming specialised exhibitions in Taiwan include the Taipei International Plastics & Rubber Industry Show - Taipei Plas (to be held from August 12 to 16, 2016), the Taipei International Machine Tool Show - TimTos (from March 7 to 12, 2017), the Taipei Manufacturing Technology Show - MTduo (from May 5 to 8, 2018), and the Taiwan International Woodworking Machinery Show - WoodTW (from April 2 to 5, 2018). Attending these exhibitions will provide opportunities for Vietnamese companies to access advanced equipment from Taiwan to raise their production capacity while introducing and marketing their products to many potential partners around the world. Notably, Vietnamese companies will be granted travelling and accommodation expenses when they visit those exhibitions in Taiwan.
